Various wibblings
May. 24th, 2006 06:41 pmI have the week off. Yay!
Given the 'orrible weather, I feel quite glad my plan has been for random daytrips by train....
Have been to Salisbury - only an hour on the train, far less claustrophobic than London for a decent stroll and shopping trip.
Went to Barnes wetland centre. A bit like a zoo but without the interesting fluffy or growly things (unless you count the flocks of semi-evil schoolkids). Quite nice though, especially when you consider it feels like countryside despite being effectively in the middle of a large city.
Went to Greenwich today, wandered round the Cutty Sark. Very interesting (did you know it's named after an evil witch in a dodgy short dress, who pulled the tail of a bloke's horse when he tried to run away from her? bizarre).
Purchased a very "Munchkin"esque Pocket Dragon for Julian (Viking Space Warrior with helmet, spear and raygun..) and also 2 nice summer skirts from a "hippy" shop. Largely because I have an issue with almost all shop-bought skirts elsewhere. While size 12 trousers just about fit while being almost too tight, size 10 skirts sort of fall off, with next size down being too small. Have they recalibrated sizes and not told us?? Any shops sell people-sized summer skirts??
In other news: why is it that even when the main-ish bathroom in the house hasn't been used much, it still has a fine coating of Goth Dust (tm) on all flat surfaces?
