Admittedly it's not full to the brim (some of the contents is packing paper), but hey, free sweets!

Did they also resolve the problem you complained about?

Not as such - the original problem got resolved my in-branch staff, the phone conversation recently was more about me suggesting they improve a number of processes to make the customer's life easier (in this case, the ability to follow up a specific action via Online Banking rather than being made to do something on paper / letter only).

It's quite common - banks prefer to send gifts (wine, chocolates, flowers, etc) rather than giving you 'shut up money' if that makes any sense? I guess the view is that it feels less banky and more personal. :)

I've never had gifts, just the offer of money, I wonder if it's the style of complaint!

Hrrrm, those are the cheapest, nastiest, shittiest sweets as one would grudgingly buy to get rid of annoying trick or treaters. No expense spared. We're talking a couple of quid here. As one sweet shop owner said to me (regarding such things as the Jazzies specifically) "I wouldn't feed this shit to a dog let alone a child."

I'd be insulted.

Fortunate that I like jazzies! Plus I figured the box looks useful...

Not actually the cheapest, I spot several named brands in there (Cadburys, Bassetts, Mars, fruit pastelles & malteasers at least) - I could find shittier & cheaper options very easily!

Barclays did that once when they really fouled up - send me wine.

They did it a second time a few years later when they fouled up something else (and took ages to admit there was a problem and that they had caused it). They sent flowers - to an asthmatic....

But by the time the flowers had arrived (and been given to a friend) I had already made the decision to move to First Direct.

FD haven't sent me anything to date, but this is more than made up for by their excellent customer service. (Only foul up to date was sorted out in a helpful manner)
