"River" dresses
Jul. 13th, 2006 10:32 pmBoth my vague attempts at Firefly costuming are complete - I wanted something to use for a River "Objects in Space" outfit (though I need my mum to make the crocheted top - I'll probably base it on Dragoncrafter's handy pattern).
Dresses are as follows:
Dress 2 is thinner and floatier and neckline uses bias binding, armhole edges hemmed. A right pain fiddling cutting it out so all the banded pattern is consistent between the 6 panels making up the dress.
Dress 1 is slightly heavier fabric, armholes done witrh bias binding (which led to a bulkier effect) and neck edge uses an inner facing including some iron-on interfacing. Neckline/general bodice area is thus a bit too big for me - not sure it really works. And I used every bit of the fabric I had so little scope for re-working.
Ideas/thoughts, in terms of what I should do or whether they work?
