That was fun!
Went to an Ash gig at Koko, Camden yesterday.
We were fairly close to the front of the queue as we got there with plenty of time. Pointed out to
masterofapath that a person ahead of us in the queue looked familiar from "Browncoats" social events.
Once we were let in, I asked her "Are you a Browncoat?" and found it was indeed the person I thought it was. Seemed she and her friends were as big a set of Ash fangirls as Firefly fangirls and were aiming to get to as many of the London gigs this week as possible, while also being part of the band's MySpace publicity crew (we got some badges and things from them AND they told us which band member is a Firefly fan ;) )
Very energetic gig, never been to one where the bouncers were kept quite so busy!
They has at least *some* rest as not all the songs were fast and bouncy. But in "Kung Fu" and "Burn Baby Burn" in particular, some crowd surfers had to be forcibly removed!
Things got quite crowded. We were right at the front so made the most of the front rail to hold onto. I have a few minor cuts and grazes to show for this event but it was still fun ;)
Oh and we took some photos. Pics to follow at some point!
Other interesting observation - the support band "Wry" hung aroud just off-stage and watched the rest of the gig rather than vanishing off as support bands usually do.
They seemed to be amusing themselves - I saw one of them towards the end watching intently, a can of beer in one hand an a slab of what looked like Dairy Milk in the other ;)
[edit] oh and before I go on too much about all this strange fandom-crossing I probably ought to thank a few people.
luckykaa for lending us "Firefly" originally, resulting in convention-going and other fan events. And also thanks
kkjxx for getting me interested in "Ash". Well, getting my brother interested first, anyway ;)
